Fletcher, Joseph

Joseph Fletcher (1905-91), was an American Episcopalian priest who taught Christian Ethics at Episcopal Divinity School, Cambridge, Massachusetts, and at Harvard Divinity School from 1944 to 1970. He is most famous for his work Situation Ethics and for the way in which he then applied this approach to develop a more liberal Christian ethic in relation to both medicine (where he served as President of the Euthanasia Society of America) and sexual ethics.
